Building a model of
A Bit-O-Lace
?
So, What color was she, exactly?
In an effort to answer this question, I hereby offer this color chart. Keep
in mind that her skin was raw (unpainted) aluminum, her engine cowlings were
painted white, but since the mechanics were in the habit of whipping down
all metal parts with used engine oil, they would have been a dirty white,
or a cream color. Lastly, Miss. Lace's olive drab control surfaces are because
they were repaired after sustaining flak damage on a raid to Keil on February
16, 1945. They were repaired with OD colored fabric and never painted.
Details such as weathering and engine exhaust stains, oil stains, and such
are up to your skill as a modeler and imaginatoin.
